Business speed dating at BIOTECHNICA 2009

Developing new business contacts is often time-consuming and costly. For this reason BIOTECHNICA now offers an affordable and speedy way for individuals and companies to link up with potential customers, suppliers and business partners.

The BIOTECHNICA partnering event, organized in association with top international partnering firm EBD Group, brings together potential joint-venture partners from various sections of the life sciences industry and gets them talking to each other immediately.

The event is targeted primarily at decision-makers, managers, business developers and scientific professionals from the biotech, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, the financing sector, research establishments and academic institutions. More than 500 participants are expected to attend.

A faster and more efficient way to find a business partner

Participants have the chance to get to know their prospective partners in a series of 20-minute one-to-one meetings, where the subjects up for discussion include research, development, technology transfer, financing and strategic alliances. At the same time they can present their company, products and services and outline their ideas. When the allotted time is up, participants move on a short distance to their next appointment.

“The advantage of the ‘speed dating’ format is obvious: in just one day at the show, participants can meet up to 18 new contacts at one central location. The alternative would involve weeks of arranging appointments and undertaking time-consuming business trips”, points out Stephan Ph. Kühne, a member of the Board of Management at Deutsche Messe AG in Hannover.

Save time, save energy

Using the online platform “partneringONE™” developed by EBD, participants can quickly and easily identify likely contacts and arrange appointments in the run-up to BIOTECHNICA. “This means that participants can very quickly get to know companies and individuals who weren’t even on their radar before”, adds Carola Schropp, president of EBD. And when the show is over, the software is still available for them to use as an information-gathering and search tool.

Individual conference booths within the Partnering Area in Hall 9, which are automatically allocated by the online system and incorporated into the personal schedules of the participants, provide a quiet place to talk undisturbed away from the bustle of the exhibition floor.

Those interested can register at any time by going to (link no longer available) and generating their user profile. Requests for individual meetings can be put into the system six to eight weeks prior to the start of BIOTECHNICA.

The participation fee for visitors to BIOTECHNICA is 99 euros (plus VAT). Academic staff at colleges, universities and research institutes pay just 59 euros (plus VAT). These prices cover the cost of admission to the show – it is not necessary to purchase a separate ticket.

The fee for exhibitors at BIOTECHNICA is 199 euros, while exhibitors taking part in national group presentations pay a concessionary 59 euros (plus VAT). Several employees from the same company can register to attend.
