Cephalon acquires Mepha in deal valued at $615.4 million

Cephalon has once again demonstrated tremendous business acumen and expanded its range of pharmaceutical products and services within the developed and emerging markets with the acquisition of Mepha AG for $615.4 million. See this illustrated on our 2010 M&A Scorecard

Mepha is a Swiss based company who are experts in producing innovative dosage formulations and branded and non-branded generic products. They also have a broad pipeline of approximately 50 chemical entities for launch in the near future is an ideal.

Mepha will provide Cephalon with an exposure to high growth international markets and a perpetual record of innovation. The acquisition will double Cephalon's business outside the US and provide them with an additional 120 products in 50 geographic territories.

For this reason the acquisition by Cephalon will increase growth and stability of the business in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
