Teva Pharmaceuticals strengthens its position in the generics market with the acquisition of RatioPharm

RatioPharm, the sixth largest generic producer worldwide, has been acquired by Teva Pharmaceuticals for $5 billion. This acquisition will promote Teva to become the number two player in the generics market the leading generic company in Europe with a combined portfolio of 500 molecules and 10,000 presentations in 26 counties. This is the largest generics takeover since Teva's $7.5 billion purchase of Barr, announced in July 2008.
The combined entity will now have an international focus and they will be able to make significant advances with regard to expanding their market presence within the generics industry.
Teva and Ratiopharm have similar corporate cultures and a strategic synergy that make the combination a natural fit. The acquisition has succeeded in putting Ratiopharma under the strategic umbrella of Teva as a prosperous unit that will ensure enormous growth in all markets.
By joining forces with the world's largest generic company will enable Ratiopharm to continue its path of growth and success.
