Two licensing deals come along at once for Neurocrine BioSciences

Date of publication: June 18, 2010

Deal making activities for Neurocrine BioSciences has improved recently with the news that they have signed a $575 million deal with Abbott Laboratories to commercialise Elagolix for the treatment of endometriosis. See this deal illustrated on our Partnering 2010 Scorecard.

This is in addition to the $225 million deal with Boehringer for the Type II diabetes drug candidate.

Both these deals will include upfront payments ($50 million and $10 million respectively).

These are the first deals announced by Neurocrine since 2007 and will provide the cash restrained company with the investment it needs to continue to develop both its early and late stage pipeline of products.

These announcements highlight the benefit of structuring payment terms to enable all research and development programs to prosper and develop into future commercial opportunities whilst providing unique therapies to treat unmet clinical needs.
