Dealmaking has really picked up in the second quarter of 2008.
June saw the announcement of $1bn+ deals:
- Invitrogen's acquisition of Applied Biosystems for $6,700m
- DaiichiSankyo's equity purchase in Ranbaxy for $4,600m
- Sanofi-Aventis' acquisition offer for Zentiva for $2,600m
- GlaxoSmithKline's partnering deal with Mpex for efflux pump inhibitors for infections for a headline value $1,750m
